What we Believe about the Tri-une God

(1) The Tri-une God[1]
We believe in one God,[2] eternally existing in three equally divine Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,[3] who know, love, and glorify one another.[4] This one true and living God is infinitely perfect both in his love and in his holiness.[5] He is the Creator of all things, visible and invisible,[6] and is therefore worthy to receive all glory and adoration.[7] Immortal and eternal,[8] he perfectly and exhaustively knows the end from the beginning,[9] sustains[10] and sovereignly rules over all things,[11] and providentially brings about his eternal good purposes to redeem a people for himself and restore his fallen creation, to the praise of the glory of his grace.[12]

[1] This means we believe the following views to be wrong on this point: Unitarians, Judaism, Islam, Mormonism, Jehovah Witnesses, Hinduism, Buddhism, Christian Science, and Scientology.

[2] Deuteronomy 6:4 - Listen, Israel: Yahweh is our God; Yahweh is One.

[3] Matthew 28:19 - Go, therefore, and make disciples ofall nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit...

[4] 1 Corinthians 8:4-6 - 4 About eating food offered to idols, then, we know that “an idol is nothing in the world,” and that “there is no God but one.” 5 For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth —as there are many “gods ” and many “lords ”—6 yet for us there is one God, the Father. All things are from Him, and we exist for Him. And there is one Lord, Jesus Christ. All things are through Him, and we exist through Him.

[5] 1 John 4:8 – The one who does not love does not know God, because God is love.

Isaiah 6:3 - And one called to another: Holy, holy, holy is the Yahweh of Hosts; His glory fills the whole earth.

[6] Colossians 1:16 - For everything was created by Him, in heaven and on earth, the visible and the invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities — all things have been created through Him and for Him.

[7] Revelation 4:11 - Our Lord and God, You are worthy to receive glory and honor and power, because You have created all things, and because of Your will they exist and were created.

[8] 1 Timothy 1:17 - Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.

1 Timothy 6:15-16 - He is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings, and the Lord of lords, the only One who has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light; no one has seen or can see Him, to Him be honor and eternal might. Amen.

Isaiah 40:28 - Do you not know? Have you not heard? Yahweh is the everlasting God, the Creator of the whole earth. He never grows faint or weary; there is no limit to His understanding.

[9] Isaiah 46:10 – I declare the end from the beginning, and from long ago what is not yet done, saying: My plan will take place, and I will do all My will.

[10] Colossian 1:17 - He is before all things, and by Him all things hold together.

Hebrews 1:3 - The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact expression of His nature, sustaining all things by His powerful word. After making purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.

[11] Psalm 115:3 - Our God is in heaven and does whatever He pleases.

Ephesians 1:11 - We have also received an inheritance in Him, predestined according to the purpose of the One who works out everything in agreement with the decision of His will,

[12] Romans 11:36 - For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen.

Ephesians 1:6, 10, 12, 14 - 6 to the praise of His glorious grace that He favored us with in the Beloved… 10 for the administration of the days of fulfillment —to bring everything together in the Messiah, both things in heaven and things on earth in Him… 12 so that we who had already put our hope in the Messiah might bring praise to His glory… 14 He is the down payment of our inheritance, for the redemption of the possession, to the praise of His glory.
